The Sheldon Project
The Sheldon Project works with children and young people aged 5-15 years who have emotional and behavioural needs and also with parents/carers who require parenting support.
We are an early intervention service. We work with families and in partnership with other key agencies. The Sheldon Project works with families that are not already receiving support.
Sheldon Project aims to:
Benefit the families who live in Sheldon
Promote health including positive mental health
encourage social inclusion
Strengthen healthy family relationships
Provides information on local facilities and services.
Sheldon Project:
is an intervention including one to one sessions and/or group work
is designed to run for up to 12 sessions
meets in community facilities, schools and homes
identifies, refers and signposts families to other forms of support where appropriate: e.g.: local and mental health services.
The Sheldon Project Children's programme works in a creative way to:
Build emotional resilience and self-esteem.
Explore any anxieties and difficulties situations the child is experiencing: e.g.: bullying, family conflict.
The Sheldon Project Parents/carers programme works in a resourceful way to:
Provide advice and support of parenting issues
Provide advocacy where required
Build the parent/carer skills and knowledge e.g. in communicating, setting boundaries and expressing emotional warmth
Provide access adult learning.
Referrals can be received from:
Children aged 5-15 years
Parents/carers of children aged 5-15 years
Professionals working with children and young people
