ARCH
Hi, we're called The Arch Project and we help kids who wish that things were different in their lives. We help and support children who are having emotional or behavioural difficulties and will help them and the people they live with to change things for the better.

We aim to help children with:

- getting on better with people in their family.
- staying out of trouble at school
- making new friends
- dealing with emotions and feelings
- issues of bullying
- feeling better about themselves

What we Do….

We try and make our time as fun as possible and use lots of creative activities such as:

- Games - Challenges
- Activity sheets - Mask making
- Modelling clay - Wire sculptures
- Drawing - Photo frames

All the activities are chosen to help the child talk about the things that are important to them and make some positive change. It may be one to one sessions or group activities. We may also meet with the parent or carer to explore the child's needs together and think about strategies to bring about positive change building on their skills and knowledge about emotional and behavioural difficulties to help them understand the child. We sometimes redirect children and families to other forms of support if more appropriate.

For the Professionals ……

The Arch Project works with children and young people aged 5-13 years who have emerging emotional and behavioural needs, and with their parents/carers.

We are an early intervention service based on consultation with children and young people, and working in partnership with other key agencies.

We aim to build the emotional resilience of each child, to promote positive mental health and to encourage social inclusion. We may also work with the parent or carer to build their skills and knowledge about emotional and behavioural difficulties so as to benefit the child. Our workers will recognize where there are indicators of emerged mental health issues and assist referrals to specialist services.

Referrals can be made by anyone - child, family member, or professional

The child or young person will live in:
- Kingstanding - Erdington - Hodge Hill
- Shard End - South Yardley - Oscott
- Falcon Lodge - Washwood Heath - Tyburn (Castle Vale).

On commencing the intervention, the child or young person, and their parent or carer, will complete a self assessment which will inform the care plan and a programme of intervention agreed. Family work may be a part of this agreement and would be planned to compliment the intervention with the child. At the conclusion of the programme, the service user and the referrer will be invited to assess again so as to indicate the progress the service has had.
